About the role#
As a Project Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will support capital, maintenance, and process improvement projects while working alongside operators, technicians, and engineers. This 12-week program offers a mix of office and plant-floor experience, requiring you to apply engineering principles to solve real-world challenges. You will lead at least one improvement initiative from concept through implementation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with scoping, planning, and executing engineering tasks for capital and continuous-improvement projects.
- Support equipment startups, trial runs, commissioning, and data collection.
- Participate in design reviews, vendor meetings, project standups, and PSSR walk-throughs.
- Create and update technical documentation, including SOPs, commissioning checklists, and equipment lists.
- Review and markup engineering drawings and maintain project trackers.
- Observe equipment operation, verify field conditions, and gather feedback from maintenance and operators.
- Document troubleshooting findings and support investigations.
- Follow all PPE guidelines and EHS&S requirements.
- Compare vendor quotes, collect specifications, and prepare technical summaries.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, R&D, and contractors.
- Build and maintain Excel-based trackers for project metrics and action items.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and equipment manuals.
- Solid technical writing skills.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn industrial systems.
- Ability to work 50% at a desk and 50% on the plant floor.
- Strong communication skills to interact with various stakeholders.
