About the role#
The Culinary Extern works directly with the chefs and culinary team at The Resort at Pelican Hill. This role involves assisting with daily kitchen operations and meal preparation while maintaining professional standards. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Check available food supplies, including meats, sauces, spices, and produce, to ensure adequate stock for the shift.
- Set up cooking stations by gathering necessary equipment and materials.
- Assist with the preparation and plating of food items accurately and efficiently.
- Follow all health department guidelines, including proper food handling and safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Breakdown stations, label and store food according to procedures, and ensure all equipment is safely powered down.
- Notify management of any safety hazards, maintenance needs, or accidents.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a certified culinary school pursuing a degree or certification.
- Valid health department certifications required for kitchen work.
- Knowledge of various meats, seafood, poultry, and their preparation methods.
- Practical experience using kitchen equipment and materials.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work professionally with management and staff.
