About the role#
iRobot is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to join the innovation team for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bedford, Massachusetts. You will work directly with engineers to support the development and testing of robotic systems.
What you'll do#
- Plan, execute, and document innovation workstreams.
- Test and evaluate robotic components and subsystems.
- Assemble and refurbish prototypes for testing.
- Analyze and debug performance issues.
- Provide CAD support for design changes and join design reviews.
- Design and build test fixtures.
- Develop test metrics and write reports to document how robots meet requirements.
- Research new technologies and study relevant adjacent technologies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for mechanical engineering.
- An outstanding academic record.
- Experience with manufacturing methods such as machine shop equipment and 3D printing.
- Project or work experience using CAD systems, specifically CREO.
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
- Organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Mandarin fluency is a plus.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

- Location: Bedford, Massachusetts.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August through December).
- Modality: On-site, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Employment: Paid, full-time internship.
