About the role#
This is a one or two-year ministry internship designed to provide intensive training and experience in preparation for the responsibilities of a Campus Minister. Interns receive mentorship and perform ministerial functions while working toward the mission of InterVarsity at Hinds Community College. This is a full-time, paid position that requires the individual to secure a donor team to fund their salary.
What you'll do#
- Act as a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ by practicing spiritual disciplines and pursuing growth in biblical knowledge and ministry experience.
- Participate in the ministry team to cast spiritual vision, contribute to growth plans, and provide leadership in specific areas.
- Teach students to study and apply Scripture, and assist in leading ministry efforts for students and faculty.
- Provide pastoral care, support, and spiritual development training for students and leadership teams.
- Perform administrative tasks to ensure compliance with organization policies, risk management, and reporting requirements.
- Serve as an ambassador for the ministry by developing relationships with churches and individual partners to secure financial and prayer support.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student with prior leadership experience in an InterVarsity Chapter.
- Ability to annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement, Code of Conduct, Human Sexuality Theological Paper, and Women in Ministry Statement of Affirmation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Prior experience teaching biblical principles, planning ministry programs, and spiritually discipling others.
- Willingness to receive training to become a Campus Staff Minister and contribute to a supportive ministry team.
- While not required, an Associate’s degree is recommended for those assigned to community colleges.
