About the role#
Intertek is seeking an Intern for the Fall 2026 term to join the Building and Construction team in El Paso, Texas. This full-time, paid internship provides hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities to shadow professionals across various departments within the engineering and construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Perform testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties.
- Operate testing equipment for materials such as soil and concrete, and provide data assessments through reporting.
- Work using drawings, specifications, and diagrams to observe site activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
- Assist in classifying soil samples and conducting geotechnical laboratory testing.
- Prepare work orders for construction material testing.
- Perform data entry maintenance in company systems and provide administrative support.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, or Industrial Engineering degree program.
- Valid driver's license and a reliable driving record.
- Ability to read and understand work plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, stand for long periods, and work off shifts or overtime as required.
