About the role#
Intertek is seeking an intern for the Fall 2026 term to join the Building and Construction team in El Paso, Texas. This position offers hands-on training and mentorship within the engineering and construction industry. This is a full-time, paid internship that requires on-site work.
What you'll do#
- Perform testing, project-specific observations, and site assessments under supervision.
- Operate testing equipment for materials such as soil and concrete, and provide data assessments.
- Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams to perform tasks.
- Assist in classifying soil samples and conducting geotechnical laboratory testing.
- Prepare work orders for construction material testing.
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Provide administrative support and perform data entry in company systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, or Industrial Engineering degree program.
- Valid driver's license and a reliable driving record.
- Ability to read and understand work plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, stand for long periods, and perform tasks such as kneeling, squatting, or climbing.
- Availability to work off-shifts and overtime as needed.
