About the role#
Intertek is hiring an Environmental Technician Intern to join the Professional Service Industries team in Miami, Florida. This role offers hands-on experience in environmental and industrial hygiene consulting. You will work on various sites, supporting the team with data collection and field operations. This position requires travel up to 75% of the time and may involve working outdoors in different weather conditions.
What you'll do#
- Assist with surveys for asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold.
- Support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II subsurface investigations.
- Help with remedial action site activities.
- Install and maintain environmental monitoring equipment.
- Collect and map field data using GIS and GPS tools.
- Document site conditions and field activities.
- Set up and calibrate project equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A valid driver’s license and a reliable driving record.
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently.
- Capacity to stand, walk, kneel, and squat for extended periods.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Preferred qualifications include AHERA Inspector certification or a 40-hour HAZWOPER OSHA certification.
