About the role#
Interstates is hiring an Apprentice Electrician Tech College Intern in Manhattan, Kansas. This is a full-time, paid position with a rolling start date. You will work on-site, supporting our electrical projects while gaining experience toward becoming licensed through our DOL-approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program.
What you'll do#
- Measure, cut, and bend conduit.
- Operate power tools including drills, saws, pullers, and tuggers.
- Install conductors in race way and cable tray.
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and fastening components like wiring and motors.
- Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
- Disassemble defective electrical equipment.
- Load, transport, and organize materials, tools, and supplies for the crew.
- Use ladders, scaffolding, and scissor or boom lifts.
- Maintain job site cleanliness and perform housekeeping duties.
What you'll need#
- Interest in obtaining a license through our DOL-approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program.
- A certificate or AS degree in electrical technology, electrical construction, or instrumentation is preferred, though equivalent experience is also welcome.
- Permanent residency in or around Manhattan, Kansas, or a willingness to relocate.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work in high or precarious places, confined spaces, and various weather conditions.
- Commitment to following all safety standards.
Location & details#
- Location: Manhattan, Kansas.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Hours vary by site and project stage. Expect over 40 hours per week, with occasional weekend work possible.
