About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship with the Financial and Professional Lines Underwriting team. You will spend 8 to 12 weeks during the summer of 2027 learning from experts about specialty insurance and underwriting principles. You will work directly with Management Liability Underwriting Managers and other team members in our Chicago office.
What you'll do#
- Learn about corporate insurance functions and the specialty marketplace.
- Assist professionals with daily underwriting assignments and special projects.
- Perform tasks similar to those handled by entry-level underwriters.
- Develop the skills needed to succeed in the insurance industry.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Preference is given to students who have completed coursework in insurance or financial analysis.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities under pressure.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Outstanding organization and time management abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal staff and broker clients.
- Ability to travel for business purposes.
- Previous insurance internship experience is a plus.
