About the role#
Inova Central Laboratories is hiring a Phlebotomy Student to join our program. This is a full-time, paid position based in Fairfax, Virginia. We operate on a rolling enrollment basis.
What you'll do#
- Apply your knowledge of phlebotomy theory, anatomy, and pathology to collect specimens.
- Follow department policies and protocols to ensure all specimens are ready for testing.
- Explain procedures to patients and their families to help them feel comfortable and secure their cooperation.
- Maintain a safe environment by following laboratory safety regulations and accrediting agency standards.
- Clean and care for patient equipment using aseptic techniques.
- Identify and respond to safety issues and emergency situations as they arise.
- Communicate clearly with students, patients, and other healthcare staff.
- Use critical thinking to solve problems in both normal and stressful situations.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in the Inova Health System Phlebotomy School.
- Majors in Nursing, Public Health, or Biomedical Sciences are relevant to this role.
