About the role#
The Engine Test Lab Co-op at INNIO Waukesha Gas Engines supports daily operations in a research and development environment. You will gain hands-on experience with engines, instrumentation, and test equipment while working alongside technicians and engineers. This role is for students interested in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or related technical fields who want exposure to real-world engine testing.
What you'll do#
- Assist with engine maintenance tasks like subsystem builds, component changeovers, and parts inspection.
- Maintain inventory for prototype and consumable parts.
- Prepare engine test cells by installing sensors, routing cables, and verifying equipment readiness.
- Support technicians and engineers during test execution, monitor test conditions, and perform basic data checks.
- Learn to connect thermocouples, pressure transducers, and flow sensors.
- Organize and verify incoming engine build parts for quantity and specifications.
- Maintain orderly work areas and follow safety standards.
- Support documentation efforts including equipment logs and test setup records.
What you'll need#
- Strong interest in engines, mechanical or electrical systems, and test environments.
- Good mechanical aptitude and a willingness to work hands-on with tools, measurement devices, and machining equipment.
- Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical principles.
- Ability to work safely and follow detailed procedures.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
