About the role#
We are looking for an ambitious student to join our Starch Chemistry R&D team for the summer of 2027. You will support a research project focused on starch modification and characterization. This role involves evaluating lab-scale reactions, optimizing process parameters, and scaling up new products in the laboratory. You will run pilot trials, validate analytical techniques, and define scale-up requirements to support internal and customer evaluations.
What you'll do#
- Perform experiments in the lab and pilot plant, analyze the data, and provide recommendations to the project team.
- Conduct research on prior art, including literature and patents, and summarize findings in reports.
- Record and organize experimental data in the Electronic Lab Notebook and other databases.
- Communicate project status and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following GMPs and safety guidelines.
- Present research findings and future project recommendations to management at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior, or non-graduating senior.
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory and pilot plant environment.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Reliable transportation to and from the facility.
