About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to join the R&D team for the summer of 2026. You will support research projects focused on the value of fiber through structure-function characterization and modification. Your work involves characterizing native fiber materials, benchmarking them against commercial ingredients, and assessing functional properties for food applications. This role helps generate foundational knowledge for future fiber fortification and health innovation.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on prior art, including literature and patents, and monitor competitive activity.
- Perform laboratory experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to make project recommendations.
- Coordinate, summarize, and report experimental data.
- Record findings in the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and other archiving databases.
- Present research findings and project recommendations to management at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
- Familiarity with working in a chemistry or biochemistry lab setting.
- Experience with experimental design, quantitative data analysis, and interpretation of structure-function relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical reporting and presentations.
- Ability to work collaboratively and solve problems.
