About the role#
IMEG is seeking a Lighting Design Intern for a full-time, 10-12 week summer program in Madison, Wisconsin. This role supports experienced lighting designers with project tasks including luminaire selection, lighting layouts, and illuminance calculations. You will work within project budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client expectations. This is a paid, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design portions of projects according to code and company standards.
- Research commercially available equipment.
- Manage project design notebooks and documentation for record files.
- Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and technology disciplines.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Architectural Engineering, Theatrical Lighting Design, Interior Design, or an equivalent field.
- A strong interest in architectural lighting design consulting.
- Previous exposure to CAD or Building Information Modeling software.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Clear oral and written communication skills for working with individuals or groups.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
