About the role#
The Design Intern supports the IMAX Design team in developing and evolving our brand identity. You will work on a variety of projects, products, and platforms while gaining hands-on experience within a global brand. This role involves collaborating with the Design Director, Art Directors, and Production Managers on both production-focused assignments and creative exploration. We are looking for a visual communicator with a strong interest in culture, movies, music, and fandom.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Design Director and Art Directors to evolve the IMAX brand identity.
- Work within established guidelines and assist in developing new design systems.
- Produce visual content including logos, graphics, illustrations, and layouts.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, mood board development, and visual research.
- Create design elements and templates for use by cross-functional teams.
- Interpret creative briefs to translate project needs into strategic visual solutions.
- Prepare and deliver design files accurately according to project requirements.
What you'll need#
- Recent graduate or current student working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, or Advertising/Marketing.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating design fundamentals, strategic thinking, and visual communication.
- Advanced understanding of typography, layout, color theory, composition, and visual hierarchy.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Ability to conceptualize solutions based on research and project objectives.
- Strong technical skills in file preparation and delivery.
- Ability to balance detailed production execution with higher-level creative thinking.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated mindset with the ability to take initiative.
Location & details#
- Location: Playa Vista, California.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
