About the role#
As a Subscription and Annuity Representative Intern, you will focus on protecting the existing client base and growing annual software spend. You will manage subscription renewals, identify expansion opportunities, and consult with clients on the value of IBM solutions. This role is part of the Sales Internship Program and offers an opportunity to build a foundation in technology sales and client leadership.
What you'll do#
- Drive end-to-end subscription renewals for IBM-distributed software.
- Manage the subscription annuity pipeline across the software portfolio.
- Lead client software renewal discussions, including entitlement validation and licensing terms.
- Collaborate with internal IBM teams to ensure alignment on client engagement and negotiations.
- Support territory strategy and contribute to the account planning process.
- Identify opportunities for winback, modernization, version upgrades, and expansion.
- Use sales methodology to find new clients and opportunities through email, phone, and video outreach.
- Engage in social selling activities to build influence and thought leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Business, Communications, International Relations, MIS, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand client needs.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Confidence in contacting and engaging potential new customers.
- Motivation to meet sales objectives and drive client satisfaction.
- Ability to work as a self-starter and as part of a collaborative team.
- Aptitude for using selling technologies to network and identify business opportunities.
- A growth mindset and curiosity.
- Preference for candidates with a degree emphasis or certification in Professional Selling, exposure to lead generation in the tech industry, or experience meeting sales targets.
