About the role#
The Systems Assurance Kernel (SAK) team develops tools used from initial simulation through hardware bring-up and final delivery. This internship involves working on the operating system, processor, or IO components of IBM Z servers. You will contribute to the design, coding, testing, and debugging of software that verifies processor and input/output architectures.
What you'll do#
- Design, code, test, and debug software components.
- Collaborate with development and test engineers, programmers, and technicians.
- Develop operating system, architecture verification, and stress test programs.
- Locate and debug hardware and firmware issues on IBM Z servers.
- Verify machines during pre-silicon processor simulation and all phases of post-silicon testing.
What you'll need#
- Ability to create and write architecture verification software for IBM Z systems.
- Ability to quickly learn and use multiple programming languages.
- Interest and ability to read IBM Z architecture and translate it into functional verification programs.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Enthusiastic use of AI to accelerate development.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Knowledge of containerization concepts like Docker.
- Exposure to testing frameworks such as Jest or Pytest.
- Interest in leadership opportunities.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
