About the role#
As a Security Consultant Co-op, you will work with IBM teams and clients to identify requirements and design solutions. You will participate in all phases of engagement, including monitoring, detecting, planning, building, and supporting advanced security solutions. This role focuses on providing holistic approaches that combine people, processes, and technology to improve a client's security posture. You will gain exposure across multiple platforms and architectures while solving complex client challenges.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with client personnel and IBM teams to identify functional requirements.
- Design and justify client solutions based on analyzed business and technical needs.
- Participate in design activities ranging from requirements analysis to system implementation.
- Develop knowledge across diverse platforms, processes, and architectures.
- Support the full lifecycle of security engagements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A consultative mindset with the ability to solve problems and add value for clients.
- Basic understanding of security concepts and a strong interest in the field.
- Familiarity with operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, protocols, and network design.
- Experience in security domains such as Threat Management, Data and Application Security, Identity & Access Management, or Cloud and Infrastructure Security.
- Familiarity with authentication, authorization techniques, and encryption standards.
- Exposure to programming languages like Java, Python, C/C++, Ruby, GO, Golang, bash, or C#.
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with an outcome-focused approach.
