About the role#
As a Co-op Security Consultant, you will join IBM Consulting to work with a diverse range of clients. You will assist in solving complex technical and business challenges by collaborating with senior consultants and client personnel. This role focuses on your professional development through mentorship and hands-on experience in security strategy, risk, and compliance.
What you'll do#
- Identify functional requirements by working with client personnel and IBM teams.
- Participate in the design, justification, and implementation of security solutions.
- Analyze business and technical requirements to build holistic solutions that address people, processes, and technology.
- Monitor, detect, plan, and support advanced security engagements.
- Gain practical knowledge across various platforms, architectures, and security processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A consultative mindset with the ability to solve problems and add value to client projects.
- Foundational knowledge of security concepts, networking protocols, and operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Experience in domains such as Threat Management, Data and Application Security, Identity & Access Management, Cloud Security, or Strategy and Risk.
- Familiarity with network design, authentication techniques, and encryption standards.
- Exposure to programming languages or tools such as Java, Python, C/C++, Ruby, Go, Bash, C#, SharePoint, or software testing automation.
- Strong communication, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while remaining outcome-focused.
