About the role#
As a Co-op Security Consultant, you will join IBM Consulting to work with a diverse range of clients. You will assist senior consultants in analyzing business and technical requirements to solve complex challenges. Your work focuses on creating solutions that combine people, processes, and technology to improve a client's security posture. You will participate in all phases of engagement, including monitoring, detecting, planning, building, and implementing advanced security solutions.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with client personnel and IBM teams to identify functional requirements.
- Identify, justify, and design client solutions.
- Participate in design activities ranging from requirements analysis to system and process implementation.
- Collect and analyze existing business and technical requirements.
- Gain knowledge across multiple platforms, processes, and architectures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A consultative mindset with the ability to solve problems and add value for clients.
- A strong interest in cybersecurity and a basic understanding of security concepts.
- Familiarity with operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, protocols, network design, authentication, authorization techniques, and encryption standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, critical-thinking, communication, and writing skills.
- Experience in at least one security domain, such as Threat Management, Data and Application Security, Identity & Access Management, Cloud and Infrastructure Security, or Strategy and Risk.
- Knowledge in network design, web or custom application development, mobile development, software engineering, or identity and authentication technology.
- Exposure to tools such as Java, Python, C/C++, Ruby, GO, Golang, bash, C#, SharePoint, or software testing and automation.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
