About the role#
IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Surety Underwriting Intern for the Summer 2027 program. Based in our Greenwood Village, Colorado office, this 10-week internship runs from May 24, 2027, to July 30, 2027. You will gain exposure to the surety business unit, learn underwriting fundamentals, and work alongside subject matter experts. This is a paid, full-time position that follows a hybrid work schedule.
What you'll do#
- Participate in educational sessions with our underwriting, product, and claims teams.
- Learn the basics of surety underwriting by applying concepts to actual accounts and presenting your findings.
- Organize and present a capstone project to the underwriting team and your peers.
- Set and work toward individual performance goals throughout the summer.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising sophomore or higher in a degree program such as Risk Management, Finance, Mathematics, Business, Economics, or Accounting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
- A willingness to learn financial analysis.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Greenwood Village, Colorado.
- Modality: Hybrid (in-office Monday through Wednesday; remote Thursday and Friday).
- Duration: 10 weeks (May 24, 2027, to July 30, 2027).
- Compensation: $17 to $21 per hour, depending on class standing.
