About the role#
The Info Tech Extern role at Hurley Medical Center offers a learning environment where you work under close supervision. You will assist various IT teams with first level issue resolution and support projects across several technical areas. These include service center operations, networking, server administration, database management, cyber security, and endpoint lifecycle management. You will work directly with the IT Director or their designee to ensure your work meets performance standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist IT teams with departmental projects and problem resolution.
- Perform PC troubleshooting to diagnose and fix common issues.
- Setup and install computers and required software.
- Participate in quality assessment and continuous improvement activities.
- Follow all safety and infection control standards.
- Maintain a courteous, customer-focused approach in line with the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior.
- Learn and use new technologies relevant to your assignments.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Current or previous enrollment in the Genesee Career Institute Information Technology program or a similar academy.
- Current enrollment or graduation from an accredited Associate or Bachelor degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Current industry recognized certification such as CompTIA A+, Security+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft credentials.
- Working knowledge of current Windows operating systems and PC troubleshooting.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
- Ability to build professional relationships with medical staff, physicians, and the public.
- Willingness to adapt to new technologies.
