About the role#
As a Land Development Engineering Intern, you will work with experienced engineers and designers to plan and design sites from the ground up. You will see how grading, drainage, roads, utilities, and site layouts combine to create functional spaces. You will contribute to real projects, learn by doing, and explore different areas of civil engineering to help shape your future career path.
What you'll do#
- Support site design for residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial development projects.
- Assist with site layouts, grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design.
- Help prepare engineering calculations, drawings, plans, and project documentation.
- Gain exposure to Civil 3D and other design tools.
- Support the preparation of materials for municipalities and review agencies.
- Participate in field visits and project discussions.
- Engage in a structured learning experience, including roundtables on consulting and professional development.
- Build skills through training and LinkedIn Learning while connecting with interns, engineers, and leaders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Availability to work full time during Summer 2027.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, surveying, or site design is a plus, though not required.

- This is an on-site, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- Locations: Houston, Texas and McHenry, Illinois.
