About the role#
HNTB is seeking Transportation Intern Engineers for the Summer 2027 term in our Boston, Massachusetts office. This full-time, on-site role involves performing basic engineering tasks across our Roadway, Traffic, and Stormwater/Utilities departments. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support projects ranging from intersection improvements to large-scale infrastructure design.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering teams with daily project tasks and duties.
- Support research, development, and design efforts for assigned projects.
- Prepare engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program.
- Basic understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
- Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and organize information for project documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to accept and apply direction from supervisors and peers.
- Understanding of introductory shop drawing and submittal procedures.
- Preference is given to candidates who have completed 2 years of a civil engineering program.
- Preference is given to candidates with experience in AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- A strong interest in transportation and infrastructure is preferred.

- Compensation: The pay range for this position is $25.28 to $37.92 per hour.
