About the role#
This position is for current or former HNTB interns only. You will provide daily inspection of routine activities performed by contractors. Your goal is to monitor project compliance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions. This work is generally limited to smaller, standard, and less complex projects. You will report to a Field Engineer to review any discrepancies or changes.
What you'll do#
- Observe, document, and verify work in progress to ensure it matches contract documents.
- Confirm that procedures are followed and materials meet specifications.
- Perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work.
- Maintain daily reports of work activities, contractor labor, equipment, and material quantities.
- Perform on-site material testing and produce as-constructed sketches.
- Calculate complex pay quantities.
- Identify, document, and escalate changed conditions or conflicts within project documents.
- Interpret project schedules and provide feedback.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 3 years of construction-related experience.
- All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
- Work is on-site in South Norwalk or Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
- The pay range for this role in Connecticut is $35.12 to $57.47 per hour.
