About the role#
This position is open exclusively to current or former HNTB interns. As a New Grad Returning Planner I, you will join our Great Lakes Division for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on applying planning strategies to infrastructure and transportation projects. You will work alongside interdisciplinary teams to gather data, assess outcomes, and develop materials from project concept through completion.
What you'll do#
- Research, collect, organize, and analyze raw data for project use.
- Conduct research on planning policies, concepts, and issues.
- Assist in the development of conceptual planning alternatives.
- Prepare and produce plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents.
- Create maps, exhibits, and presentation materials to support project teams.
- Support stakeholder and public participation processes.
- Maintain project-related records, collections, and files.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in GIS software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to compile and summarize data, such as census or land use information, under the direction of experienced staff.
- Experience reviewing, preparing, and summarizing research.
- A Master’s degree in Urban Planning or related field is preferred.
