About the role#
This position is open exclusively to current or former HNTB interns. You will provide engineering inspection and documentation for construction projects to monitor compliance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions. This role assists in the modification of design calculations, technical reports, and engineering plans to protect client interests.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction field work to ensure conformance to contract documents.
- Coordinate and schedule quality control inspections.
- Observe on-site material testing and coordinate monitoring services.
- Calculate material quantities for payments.
- Review contractor daily construction reports for accuracy and consistency.
- Document project progress using photos and video.
- Consult with the Resident Engineer to resolve construction problems.
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and maintain tracking logs for submittals and pay estimates.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Ability to identify discrepancies or conflicts within project documents.
- Experience writing daily inspection reports.
- Understanding of shop drawing reviews.
- Ability to read and interpret contractor CPM schedules.
- Preference is given to candidates with an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or experience with digital construction management software.
