About the role#
This position is open exclusively to current or former HNTB interns. As a Construction Representative I, you will provide construction site field and office support during the construction phases of infrastructure projects. You will work alongside the Resident Engineer to apply construction engineering techniques and ensure projects align with contract documents.
What you'll do#
- Perform office management tasks including preparing meeting agendas, recording minutes, and maintaining tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, and pay estimates.
- Assist with field work to ensure conformance to plans and specifications, including coordinating and scheduling quality control inspections.
- Observe on-site material testing and perform mathematical calculations for material quantity payments.
- Review contractor daily reports for accuracy and document project progress through photos and video.
- Identify discrepancies in construction drawings and specifications.
- Consult with the Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, providing proactive recommendations for issue resolution.
- Utilize industry technology, such as GPS and rovers, to increase the efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
What you'll need#
- An Associate degree in a relevant field with 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency in basic math skills for project tasks and quantity calculations.
- Foundational understanding of document control, including material approvals and contractor payments.
- Basic computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite.

- This is a full-time, paid position available for Winter or Summer 2027.
- The role is on-site at various locations including Dallas, Plano, Round Rock, Houston, El Paso, San Antonio, Austin, and Fort Worth, Texas; New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Kansas City, St. Louis, and Overland Park, Missouri/Kansas; Des Moines, Iowa; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Little Rock, Arkansas.
