About the role#
This is a summer 2027 internship for an Intern Technician at HNTB. You will work under close supervision to support our bridge and roadway departments. This role involves assisting with engineering tasks related to standard post-secondary curriculum and gaining practical experience in infrastructure projects.
What you'll do#
- Use computer aided drafting and design software to create construction details, design plans, and reports.
- Transfer data from survey files, legal descriptions, and aerial photographs into final plans.
- Illustrate designs and concepts in 2D or 3D.
- Apply algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to engineering tasks.
- Complete assignments under close supervision following detailed procedures.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary program.
- A strong interest in transportation and infrastructure.
- We prefer candidates with one year of relevant experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
- The role is on-site at one of our offices in Kansas City, MO, Oklahoma City, OK, Overland Park, KS, Des Moines, IA, or St. Louis, MO.
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Relocation and housing are not provided.
