About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027 based in Kansas City, Missouri, or Overland Park, Kansas. You will support the electrical engineering team on transportation infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience with real-world design and field work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of electrical systems for transportation projects, including roadway and tunnel lighting, traffic signals, and power distribution.
- Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop and conduit sizing.
- Prepare and update plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Support field investigations and data collection efforts.
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams while learning industry standards like NEC, NFPA, and IEEE.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary electrical engineering program.
- Completion of at least two years of your engineering program is preferred.
- A solid grasp of basic engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- The ability to organize information for technical drawings and documents.
- A willingness to accept and apply direction from supervisors and peers.
