About the role#
HNTB is hiring an Environmental Planning/Public Involvement Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Rocky Hill, Connecticut office. You will work under supervision to support our department and project teams with administrative tasks and project-specific research.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports and edit documents.
- Track and evaluate project results.
- Coordinate program developments.
- Handle routine inquiries, answer phones, and manage appointments.
- Receive messages and transmit information.
- Assist management with data analysis.
- Participate in meetings and interface with various project teams.
- Support special projects and provide research as needed.
- Perform administrative duties like making copies and other tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Pursuit of a major in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Resource Management, Wildlife Biology, Fishery or Forestry, Ecology, Geology, Historic Preservation, Anthropology, Archaeology, or Environmental Planning.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related regulations.

- Compensation: The pay range for this role in Connecticut is $21.03 to $31.54 per hour, depending on individual qualifications and experience.
