About the role#
HNTB is seeking interns for the Summer 2027 term to support our teams in Oakland and San Jose. You will work on-site with our Transportation, Roadway/Highway, Structures/Bridges, and Transportation Planning groups. This is a full-time, paid internship designed to provide hands-on experience with infrastructure projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering teams with daily tasks and project duties.
- Support research, development, and design efforts for ongoing projects.
- Help prepare engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program, with at least 2 years completed.
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
- Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and organize information for project documentation.
- Familiarity with introductory shop drawing and submittal procedures.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine interest in infrastructure and transportation.
- Willingness to accept and apply direction from supervisors and peers.
