About the role#
This is a full-time summer 2027 internship based in our New York City office. You will work under close supervision to support our planning and science departments. This role focuses on historical and archaeological research as it relates to transportation and infrastructure projects.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports and edit project documents.
- Track and evaluate project results.
- Coordinate program developments and handle routine inquiries.
- Assist management with data analysis and special research projects.
- Participate in team meetings and interface with various departments.
- Manage administrative tasks such as answering phones, transmitting information, and scheduling appointments.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED and current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Experience with historic resource surveys, fieldwork, and preparing survey reports.
- Ability to assess effects and create documentation that meets preservation standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in GIS.
- A genuine interest in transportation and infrastructure.
We prefer candidates pursuing a Master degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Heritage Preservation, Historic Preservation, History, or a related field. Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act is also preferred, as is previous internship experience.
