About the role#
HGA offers a paid summer internship for civil engineering students in 2027. This full-time position lasts approximately 12 weeks, running from June 1, 2027, through mid-August. You will work directly with our team to support project deliverables and gain practical engineering experience.
What you'll do#
- Prepare civil engineering plans and drawings using Civil 3D.
- Perform stormwater management calculations and analysis.
- Support stormwater design efforts using HydroCAD software.
- Research zoning requirements, stormwater regulations, and site plan approval processes.
- Review geotechnical reports and incorporate findings into project designs.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers on project tasks.
- Visit construction sites to observe field conditions and learn about project implementation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
- Standing as a junior or higher in an undergraduate program, or current enrollment in a graduate program.
- An interest in site development, specifically in environmental, geotechnical, transportation, or water resources engineering.
- Knowledge of Civil 3D, hydrology, street and utility design, and HydroCAD.
- Familiarity with Revit.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

- This role is based on-site in Minneapolis, Minnesota, or Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
