About the role#
Heartland Family Service is seeking a Master's level intern for a residential substance abuse treatment facility in Omaha. This role supports women and young children through mental health and substance abuse assessment and treatment. This position is intended for those preparing for licensure as a mental health practitioner with a focus on clinical practice.
What you'll do#
- Assess clients to determine their appropriateness for services and their required level of care.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-treatment assessments, including diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations.
- Collaborate with clients to establish treatment plans with clear goals and objectives.
- Provide counseling to individuals, couples, and families in both group and individual settings.
- Deliver mental health crisis intervention when necessary.
- Facilitate educational workshops and presentations on family life.
- Coordinate care across multiple practitioners and maintain relationships with referral sources.
- Complete all case documentation, billing records, and required reports to meet clinical standards.
- Create and maintain a personal self-care plan.
What you'll need#
- Substantial completion of graduate-level course work in Psychology.
- A strong understanding of at least two prevalent theories of therapeutic treatment and the ability to apply them.
- Prior experience in human services.
- Demonstrated personal stability and maturity.
