About the role#
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking interns to support water, wastewater, stormwater, and conveyance projects. You will join one or more discipline groups, such as CAD/BIM, civil, electrical, structural, or process mechanical. This role involves working from the initial study phase through the construction of treatment facilities, pump stations, and pipelines. We offer professional guidance, career counseling, and direct mentorship from experienced engineers. This is a paid position with the potential for full-time employment after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Participate in fieldwork, site visits, and client meetings, including outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Assist with engineering deliverables like sampling studies, condition assessments, hydraulics, and design reports.
- Work alongside our engineering team to develop your technical skills.
- Manage data for process modeling and design.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to select equipment.
- Support projects through all stages from planning to construction.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s program in environmental, civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a group.
- Self-motivated approach to assignments.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Civil 3D, or GIS is preferred.
- A strong interest in or prior experience within the water and wastewater industry is preferred.
- Candidates pursuing an advanced degree are encouraged to apply.
