About the role#
Hazen and Sawyer is looking for a Field Coordinator Intern to join our Construction Management team during the summer of 2027. You will spend roughly 75% of your time in the field and 25% in the office. This role offers hands-on experience with water and wastewater infrastructure projects, working directly with engineers and construction managers to support project delivery.
What you'll do#
- Assist construction managers with daily project oversight and coordination.
- Visit project sites to inspect construction progress and verify it meets plans and specifications.
- Review contractor submittals, project schedules, and related documentation.
- Support quality assurance and quality control efforts.
- Attend project meetings, track action items, and maintain meeting records.
- Help manage project reports, correspondence, and construction inspection records.
- Collaborate with municipal staff, utility owners, contractors, and engineers.
- Assist with project closeout tasks, including punch list development.
- Follow and promote all workplace safety policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Junior or Senior status is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various project sites throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.
- A strong interest in infrastructure development and construction management.
- Experience in municipal water or wastewater construction inspection is a plus.
- Possession of an EIT or CMIT certification is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship based in Tempe, Goodyear, or Tucson, Arizona.
- The role requires on-site work.
