About the role#
We are hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for our Wood Plant in Holland, Michigan. This is a paid, full-time internship for the summer of 2027. You will join a group of interns for a 12-week program that includes hands-on projects, mentorship, and professional development workshops.
What you'll do#
- Update lockout/tagout procedures.
- Support material yield optimization to reduce waste and scrap.
- Participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
- Conduct compressed air audits.
- Assist with manufacturing process improvements.
- Spend time on the production floor, including operating equipment and working alongside production teams.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial engineering.
- Junior status or higher by Fall 2027.
- Unrestricted right to work in the US.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Holland, MI from May 2027 to August 2027.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and spreadsheet applications.
- A desire to learn, question, and research solutions to problems.
- Preferred: A GPA of 2.95 or higher.
- Preferred: Experience with CAD software, Microsoft Office, and artificial intelligence tools.
- Preferred: Prior experience at Haworth, previous employment, or extra-curricular involvement.
