About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Manufacturing Engineering internship based in Big Rapids, Michigan. You will join a cohort of interns for a 12-week program during the summer of 2027. The role focuses on practical, hands-on projects where you will work alongside production teams and experienced engineers to solve real manufacturing challenges.
What you'll do#
- Update lockout and tagout procedures.
- Support material yield optimization to reduce waste and scrap.
- Participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Conduct compressed air audits.
- Assist with general manufacturing process improvements.
- Spend significant time on the production floor operating equipment and working with production teams.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Welding Engineering, or Product Design.
- Junior level status by the Fall of 2027.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Unrestricted right to work in the United States.
- Preferred: A GPA of 2.95 or higher, experience with CAD software (specifically Creo), and exposure to AI tools.
- Preferred: Prior work experience, involvement in extracurriculars, or previous experience with Haworth.
