About the role#
Hatch is hiring a Structural Engineering Student for a full-time internship starting in January 2027. This position is based on-site in Trail, British Columbia, for the winter term. You will work within our Project Delivery Group to support various industrial and energy projects while gaining hands-on experience in structural analysis and design.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering drawings, design calculations, material takeoffs, and technical reports.
- Assist senior and intermediate engineers with structural inspections and site visits.
- Develop FEM models using analytical tools under supervision.
- Use CAD software to create 2D drawings and 3D models.
- Provide support for construction progress reporting and condition assessments.
- Coordinate with field staff to support project site work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year Civil Engineering student at an accredited university.
- Successful completion of or current enrollment in structural engineering coursework.
- Demonstrated interest in structural analysis and design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- A commitment to job safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Extracurricular involvement that shows an interest in the structural engineering field.

- Compensation: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour.
