About the role#
As a Rail Systems Intern at Hatch, you will support our Infrastructure group from our Ambler, Pennsylvania office. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work alongside senior engineers and designers on projects involving signaling, traction power, communications, SCADA, rail track, and systems integration.
What you'll do#
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to rail and transit projects.
- Assist with technical design reviews and check calculations.
- Help design power distribution systems.
- Coordinate with technicians and other disciplines to produce design deliverables.
- Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and specifications based on notes.
- Support senior staff with project tasks and overall project completion.
- Develop your technical communication and report writing skills.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program for Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in rail and transit design.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
- Experience or knowledge of a consultancy environment working on infrastructure projects.
- Ability to work in a team with multidisciplinary interaction.
- Willingness to travel to various project sites and Hatch offices.
- Extracurricular involvement is expected.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is an asset.
