About the role#
Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineering student to join our Technologies group in Mississauga for a 16-month co-op term starting in Winter 2027. You will work on complex projects across the metals, energy, and infrastructure sectors. This role involves applying academic knowledge to real-world engineering problems while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
What you'll do#
- Apply and develop skills in mechanical design.
- Perform finite element analysis on furnace components and systems.
- Conduct thermal analysis of cooling system elements.
- Coordinate designs with structural, electrical, process, and instrumentation teams.
- Contribute to the design and improvement of mechanical equipment like electrode columns and furnace sealing systems.
- Perform calculations for machinery components, hydraulic systems, and cooling water circuits.
- Review fabrication and construction drawings.
- Refine your technical communication and report writing skills.
What you'll need#
- Currently in your 3rd or 4th year of a Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university.
- Strong academic performance and a solid understanding of engineering and business fundamentals.
- Ability to think critically and creatively to solve technical problems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Aptitude for working in multi-disciplinary teams and a willingness to learn quickly.
- Active involvement in extra-curricular or volunteer activities.
- You must submit an official or unofficial transcript with your application.
