    About the role#

    Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineering student to join our Technologies group in Mississauga for a 16-month co-op term starting in Winter 2027. You will work on complex projects across the metals, energy, and infrastructure sectors. This role involves applying academic knowledge to real-world engineering problems while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

    What you'll do#

    • Apply and develop skills in mechanical design.
    • Perform finite element analysis on furnace components and systems.
    • Conduct thermal analysis of cooling system elements.
    • Coordinate designs with structural, electrical, process, and instrumentation teams.
    • Contribute to the design and improvement of mechanical equipment like electrode columns and furnace sealing systems.
    • Perform calculations for machinery components, hydraulic systems, and cooling water circuits.
    • Review fabrication and construction drawings.
    • Refine your technical communication and report writing skills.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently in your 3rd or 4th year of a Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university.
    • Strong academic performance and a solid understanding of engineering and business fundamentals.
    • Ability to think critically and creatively to solve technical problems.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Aptitude for working in multi-disciplinary teams and a willingness to learn quickly.
    • Active involvement in extra-curricular or volunteer activities.
    • You must submit an official or unofficial transcript with your application.

    • Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (16-month co-op).
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour.
