About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Mechanical Engineering Intern for our Summer 2027 program. You will work on-site at our Columbia, Maryland office. This 12-week internship begins on May 17, 2027, though individual start dates may be flexible. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to build your professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks and learn mechanical engineering principles.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, cost estimates, and special provisions.
- Maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct, and make ethical decisions regarding resources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proficiency with office software, spreadsheets, and technical writing.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow direction from managers and mentors.
- A commitment to workplace safety and company conduct policies.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.

- Location: Columbia, Maryland.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $23.90 to $32.22 per hour.
- Note: This position does not include relocation or housing assistance.
