About the role#
Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Student to join the Project Delivery Group for the Winter 2027 term. Based in Trail, British Columbia, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to mechanical and piping engineering design for various projects while gaining practical experience in an industrial setting.
What you'll do#
- Complete mechanical and piping engineering design deliverables both independently and as part of a team.
- Assist senior engineers with detailed design tasks, including writing study reports and performing 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
- Gather onsite information and participate in site inspections and walkdowns.
- Attend design and quality reviews to ensure project standards.
- Become familiar with industrial mechanical design, regional codes, and company quality procedures.
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines to deliver solutions for clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university.
- Active involvement in extra-curricular or volunteer activities.
- Previous co-op or work experience in mechanical engineering design and execution.
- Technical experience with mechanical design calculations and 3D modeling software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills alongside excellent organizational abilities.
- Ability to learn quickly and take on new challenges.
- Capability to wear personal protective equipment effectively during site visits.
