About the role#
The Student Success Coach provides holistic guidance and support to a caseload of undergraduate students at Hartwick College. This full-time, 11-month position focuses on supporting students through their transition to college, assisting with academic planning, and fostering social, emotional, and intellectual growth. The coach acts as a primary contact for students and works closely with faculty and staff to support registration and academic achievement.
What you'll do#
- Provide coaching to a caseload of probation students and assist with the coordination of coaching for the Academic Rebound Program.
- Conduct outreach and intervention for at-risk students, including managing support for those identified through early alerts.
- Coordinate regular communications, meetings, and status updates regarding student development, including major exploration, course planning, and campus engagement.
- Assist with Tutoring and other Success Center programming, such as group tutoring and community building workshops.
- Participate on assigned committees and major campus events, including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement.
- Maintain awareness of campus life, including curricula, calendars, and student services, to serve as a primary resource for students.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 3 or more years of successful student support experience in higher education.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of student development theories and advising best practices.
- Demonstrated excellence in planning, organizing work, and maintaining records.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Google Mail, and database software.
