About the role#
The Publicity Intern will support Harlequin Trade Publishing’s imprints, including Hanover Square Press, Park Row Books, and MIRA. Reporting to the Publicity Manager, this six-month, full-time role involves working with editorial, marketing, and sales departments to generate exposure for fiction and non-fiction titles. You will gain experience in executing publicity campaigns, crafting media pitches, and coordinating author events.
What you'll do#
- Research, organize, and execute media campaigns, including online features and broadcast interviews.
- Create and manage media lists, log media hits, and track interest.
- Research media contacts and trends to pitch journalists, book reviewers, producers, and trade reporters.
- Assist publicists in coordinating author events and bookstore tours.
- Prepare pitch materials and participate in meetings with media contacts.
- Support administrative tasks such as organizing mailings, creating shipping labels, and managing book orders.
- Submit titles and authors for book awards and festivals.
What you'll need#
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal and persuasion abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- High level of organization and record-keeping skills.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine love of books.
- Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Communications, Marketing, or English.
