About the role#
This internship provides foundational exposure to medical office operations within a mental health setting. It is designed for individuals who want to start a career in healthcare or those who lack prior medical experience. You will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and a structured checklist to track your progress. Upon completing 600 hours, you will receive a certificate of completion and a reference letter.
What you'll do#
- Handle professional phone calls and schedule patient appointments.
- Manage the front desk, including faxing, copying, and filing documents.
- Use the MEDENT system to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) basics.
- Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Oversee the waiting area and manage patient flow.
- Learn about psychiatric services, medical terminology, and insurance billing.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance, patient privacy, and professional discretion.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.
- No prior healthcare or office experience is required.
- You must be able to commit to a consistent schedule.
- You will need to pass a basic screening, such as a background check and drug test.
- A motivation to gain experience for your career development.

- Location: Bradenton, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Flexible, minimum 20 hours per week, with 10-hour shifts.
- Duration: 3 to 6 months, totaling 600 hours.
- Compensation: This is a voluntary, unpaid internship.
