About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in medical office operations within a mental health setting. It is designed for individuals looking to start a career in healthcare, even without prior experience. Participants receive mentorship and training, culminating in a Certificate of Completion after 600 hours of service.
What you'll do#
- Manage front desk operations, including faxing, copying, and filing.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Schedule appointments using professional phone etiquette.
- Oversee patient flow and the waiting area.
- Learn Electronic Health Record basics using MEDENT.
- Gain exposure to medical terminology and insurance billing codes.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient privacy.
- Learn the basics of the psychiatric services provided by the clinic.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.
- No prior healthcare or office experience is required.
- You must be able to commit to a consistent schedule.
- You must pass a basic screening, such as a background check.
- You must be motivated to gain experience for your career development.

- The position is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
- This is an on-site, unpaid internship.
- The program requires a minimum of 20 hours per week, with 10-hour shifts.
- The total program duration is 600 hours, typically spanning 3 to 6 months.
