About the role#
This internship provides hands-on training in medical office operations within a mental health setting. It is designed for those looking to start a career in healthcare, even without prior experience. Participants receive mentorship and a structured training plan to build professional skills. Upon completing 600 hours, you will receive a certificate of completion and a reference letter.
What you'll do#
- Manage front desk duties including scheduling, faxing, copying, and filing.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Use the MEDENT system to learn Electronic Health Record basics.
- Maintain patient flow and the waiting area.
- Practice professional phone etiquette.
- Learn general medical terminology and the basics of psychiatric services.
- Gain an introduction to insurance billing, coding, and HIPAA compliance.
- Maintain patient privacy and professional discretion at all times.
What you'll need#
- You must be 18 years or older and a high school graduate.
- No prior healthcare or office experience is required.
- You must be able to commit to a consistent schedule.
- Candidates must pass a background check and a drug screening.
- A motivation to gain experience for career development in the healthcare field.

- Location: Hallandale Beach, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling.
- Duration: 3 to 6 months (600 hours total).
- Schedule: Minimum 20 hours per week, with 10-hour shifts.
- Compensation: This is a voluntary, unpaid internship.
