About the role#
The Physician Assistant Intern joins the Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute to support clinical and administrative operations. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship with a rolling term. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care and clinical workflows.
What you'll do#
- Observe physician consultations for new patients when permitted.
- Assist with referral appointments for consultations and support services.
- Participate in a multi-disciplinary patient care team including physicians, nurses, and medical assistants.
- Greet patients, answer telephones, and manage scheduling in MOSAIQ.
- Arrange hospital admissions, laboratory services, and manage patient medical records.
- Obtain medical histories, record vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations.
- Explain treatment procedures and build supportive relationships with patients undergoing Proton Radiation Therapy.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external care providers.
- Create and deliver a final Microsoft PowerPoint presentation summarizing your internship experience, skills developed, and project work.

- Proof of current enrollment in an accredited program or graduation within the last 12 months.
- Documentation of good academic standing, such as unofficial transcripts.
- A copy of your academic class schedule.
- A recent resume and cover letter.
- An internship course syllabus if you are seeking academic credit.
