About the role#
The Clinical Support Services Intern supports the daily operations of the Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute. You will assist with medical records management, clinical trial organization, and patient scheduling. This internship provides hands-on experience in a healthcare setting.
What you'll do#
- Retrieve and track patient medical records from outside facilities.
- Scan medical records into the EMR and audit files to confirm digital accuracy.
- Request, log, copy, and file radiology discs.
- Maintain the medical records room through cleaning and organization.
- Shred documents once they are confirmed in the EMR.
- File and organize physics records and clinical trials data for COMPPARE and PCG.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
- Create and deliver a PowerPoint presentation at the end of the internship summarizing your projects, skills developed, and overall experience.
What you'll need#
- Proof of current enrollment in a college, university, or technical institution or graduation within the last 12 months.
- Verification of good academic standing.
- A copy of your current academic class schedule.
- A current resume and cover letter.
- A course syllabus if you are seeking academic credit.
